You say you’re ten minutes away
I start to rearrange the room
Elevate your pedestal so high
So I can never reach you
So I can always wonder why
I’m into whatever you’re into
That voice that tells me not to try
Well somebody killed him
Before I even learned to drive
There’s a house I filled with grandeur
Someone ripped off the whole place
Emergency dispatcher said it sucks to be me
I’m in a room that’s full of cancer
And people in their seventies
Thinking about my married friends
It sucks to be me
You’re in the shine of the present
I can’t think of what to do with you
Draw on the past like I’m bored in class
I sat through the lecture
But I don’t think I’m gonna pass
I’m into whatever
That voice that tells me not to run
Well somebody killed him
Before I even owned a gun
I’m into whatever you’re into
Sucks to be me
There’s a house I filled with grandeur
Someone ripped off the whole place
Emergency dispatcher said it sucks to be me
I’m in a room that’s full of cancer
And people in their seventies
Thinking about my married friends
It sucks to be me

Been following Somos for many years, feeling that they had an opus in them...well, here it is. Driving pop-punk sensibilities lend an upbeat tone in contrast to the grim lyrical proceedings, and they absolutely pull it off. Evocative music that's been on repeat for me all month long. A friend with a reliably fine musical taste posted this album on FB and I wasn't disappointed. Love the guitar sound and the passionate vocals (melodic enough to not pass as screamo or whatever). Punk rock spirit yet with a lot of dynamics (definitely a yes to the Dischord reference) and compact songs that won't leave your head for a long time. Many many
great tunes on here but for the moment USMA and Lay Low have to be my favorites! Great band, very happy to have found them! perpendikel

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
Taking cues from Midwestern emo and early ’10 pop punk, this Leeds, UK outfit are full of heart— not to mention hooks. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 21, 2022
